It's late, and you're driving along Route 44 in Rehoboth, MA. In the near distance, you see a man in a tattered flannel shirt and dirty jeans walking on the side of the road. He notices you and sticks his thumb up, asking to hitch a ride. In this society? You know better than to pick up some suspicious-looking man and whizz past him.
